Prophetic Wonder
Speaker: David Bird Series: Wonder and Worship Topic: Advent Passage: Isaiah 9:1–7
Waiting can be so painful and the only thing that can get you through it is the hope of a final resolve. But what if there is no resolve? The real fear in life is that some issues may never get resolved and we will have to live with forever. There is a deep gloom and darkness that many people live in because of fear and false expectations.
The good news of the Christmas is found in the prophetic words of Isaiah. “But there will be no gloom for her who was in anguish” (9:1) and “the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light” (9:2). There is hope. There is victory. All of which is found in the great light of the gospel.
Yes, waiting in this world is inevitable. We live in a not yet world. This often forces us to make unwise choices to deal with our pain and fear. But waiting on the Lord is optional and a good option that creates hope and an expectation that does not disappoint. The majesty of Christmas is found in the prophetic wonder revealed to Isaiah. Let’s open our hearts and relive the glory of promise.
