January 23 | God is Life
“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.” Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Reading: Deuteronomy 30

Moses calls for the people to “choose life” according to the promise given to their fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  He calls for a decision. There are two ways: life or death, God’s blessing or sure judgment.  Life is found in God alone.  All the words of God’s Word are to be our life.  The scriptures, the Lord and life are bound together.  Choosing life is fearing God, obeying God, serving God and clinging to Him.  Let us choose life today.

Prayer: Lord, You are life.  You, Your Word and life are united together.  As I read Your Word, may I grow in reverential awe of who You are, may I love You more, obey what You tell me to do and cling to You as my hope and joy.
