Jesus, Our Provider

One of the great names for God is Jehovah Jireh. This name finds its roots in the Old Testament where Abraham is expected to sacrifice his son. When young Isaac asked, “Where is the lamb?” His father responds with, “God will provide”. Abraham names the spot, Jehovah Jireh – our provider. God did provide a ram and Isaac was delivered.

Today in John 21:1-14 we see how Jesus is the provider to the disciples and hence to us. When we are discouraged, Jesus leads us to obey His commands. When we obey His commands, we receive of sorts of blessings. When we come empty handed, Jesus provides for our needs.
