Courageous Love

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Gospel in Life Topic: Love, Courage Passage: 1 Corinthians 16:13–14

We have been walking through 1 Corinthians for months now and today we will wrap our time up in this letter.  Throughout this letter Paul has been passionate about the gospel as he said in the first chapter, 1.18, For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.  He says, We preach Christ crucified…Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.  Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men (1.23, 24, 25).  This what we need most right now.  We need the hope of the gospel; we need it declared from every neighborhood to every shoreline in this world.  Through the coronavirus God is pointing to reality, not one we can imagine filled with the American dream or whatever we want to make it, no He is showing us what is real and most important.  We need the gospel, we need Jesus and so in Paul’s parting words He exhorts the church to have a courageous love for the glory of Jesus as we stand firm in the faith.
