Unity and The Cross

A church is to be centered around a set of core beliefs and a mission.  This doesn’t mean that everyone in the church agrees on everything, but there should be unity around their essential beliefs and mission.  Today we read that Paul had received word that the church had gotten off track in Corinth because of divisions.  The church had become a popularity contest of sorts.  The troubles the church in Corinth experienced are not too far removed from the struggles the church in America encounters today.  Paul exhorted the church in Corinth to unity, may we be encouraged to have the same.
