Acknowledging and Loving All People
Speaker: David Bird Series: Table Talk Topic: Love Passage: James 2:1–13
James begins chapter 2 with another rebuke to his fellow believers. Rebuke should not be a rare occurrence in the Christian community but a natural part of our everyday discipleship to another. We are not to confront in anger or with a list of grievances in an explosive manner. And, we should not receive it defensively but in humility knowing it is for our good. Rebuke should be a natural part of our regular table talk.
The rebuke at hand in James 2:1-13 is the showing of partiality to some members to the marginalization of others. The particular issue is that wealthy people are given preference over the poorer members. Today we are going to explore other applications to this injunction. In what ways do you show partially to some and exclusion to others?
