Jesus' Witnesses

Acts 1.1-8: There are many events that we can look to in history and say that they dramatically altered world history. The coming power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus promises in today’s text is most definitely one, as the Holy Spirit will now come and indwell the apostles. Before this actual event happens Jesus gives His disciples a mission to spread the gospel throughout the world. Today, we see, as we began last week, that we have been saved by Christ for a mission. That mission is to be the witnesses of Jesus. What is great news though, is that he hasn’t left us empty handed. He has empowered us and that is where the Holy Spirit comes in, as He will give us the power to be Christ’s witnesses. Today may we be encouraged to be the empowered witnesses of Jesus.
