Disciples make Disciples

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Disciple: Be One, Make One Topic: Discipleship Passage: Deuteronomy 6:1–6:9

Deuteronomy 6.1-9:  If you knew you had a few days left here on earth you would spend your last days with purpose and make sure things were in order. They would not be wasted days. You would also spend it with those most significant to you and the words you shared with them would be weighted with importance. Those you shared with would cherish your words and they would no doubt make a lasting impact. So, it was with Jesus and His disciples before He left the earth to ascend to heaven. Jesus told His disciples to go and make disciples (Matthew 28.18-20) and to be His empowered witnesses (Acts 1.8). His final earthly words to them would make a lasting impact and still does with disciples today. Today we look at the responsibility as disciples to be disciple-makers. Disciple making is not a program, but is the mission of our lives. It truly defines us and marks the different rhythms of our day. So, from the home front, to the schoolhouse, the neighborhood, the workplace and lastly, but definitely not least with the body of Christ, our task is to make disciples. May this be our passion at The Ridge in more than just talk and theory, but in action.
