Matthew: The God of the Living
Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Matthew's Gospel: The King and His Kingdom Topic: Resurrection Passage: Matthew 22:23–22:33
Matthew 22.23-33: 8 out of 10 Americans believe there is life after death. Only 1 out of 10 believe there is nothing after death. It is a group with the latter belief that now approaches Jesus. They, like the other Jewish leaders, see Jesus as a threat and they use the topic of the resurrection of the dead to try and make Him look like a fool. They fail just like the others have. In Jesus’ response to their question He boldly proclaims that God is the God of the living, not the dead. He continues to have an intimate relationship of life and worship with those who are dead, which means they are still alive. Today we celebrate the deity of Jesus, the holy Scriptures, the power of God to raise us up and the eternal promises of God to His. He is truly faithful.
