Matthew: Christ, the Bearer of our Infirmity
Series: Matthew's Gospel: The King and His Kingdom Topic: Healings Passage: Matthew 8:14–8:17
As we continue to look at the ministry of Jesus Christ through the Gospel of Matthew, we see a special emphasis on healing. Both to fulfill words of the prophets and to point to the future hope of resurrection, we learn that Christ is our spiritual and physical healer. We learn that this life is broken, hurting, filled with sin and disease and we should rightfully mourn and lament over the state of the world. Though our lament is real, it is turned into hope as we look to Christ as our bearer of sin and guarantee of resurrection in the flesh and hope for the future no matter what the present day holds. We respond with patience, service, humility and awe in the Son of God who came to take upon himself the weaknesses of mankind.
