January 26 | God Gives Life
“I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139.14

Reading: Psalm 139

David reflects on the awesome knowledge, presence and power of God.  He thinks of how God relates to him in His great attributes.  God created David’s inmost being, not at birth, but before birth.  The person in the womb was not something that might become David, but someone who was David, just a younger version of the same man. David reflects on God’s work in making him and He praises God for His awesome creation.  God made every human with awe and wonder.  He has made them as a unique original.  There is no one like you or me.  How wonderful are the works of God.

Prayer: Lord, You are all-knowing.  Your knowledge is awesome.  You are present everywhere at all times.  You are all-powerful.  I praise You for who You are.  Your works are wonderful.  When I think of your handiwork in creating every human in the womb my mind is blown away.  From before my first breath to now I know You are with me and for me.  Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.
