January 18 | Make Jesus Known
“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.’” Matthew 9:37-38

Reading: Matthew 9

Jesus is overwhelmed with compassion for the people and turns to His disciples and says, “There is gathering to be done in the harvest and we need workers.”  It is an extensive work with few who will actually do the work of gathering.  So, He tells His disciples to pray to God who is sovereign over the harvest.  As we seek to make Jesus’ name known we must pray as Jesus prescribes here for more workers.  This is not so we put the task off to someone else, but that as we are praying God would work on our heart that we too would be faithful workers in the harvest of lost souls.

Prayer:  Lord, give me a harvest mentality.  Help me be a faithful gatherer.  As, You make me a compassionate and faithful worker, may you send more into Your harvest work.
