Once a year the elders put forth a special offering goal to the congregation during the advent season.  This advent season the elders have put forth an offering goal of $80,000. In years past, you have given above and beyond to help fund the work of the gospel both locally and globally.  We want to invite you to pray and join in doing the same again this year. As you pray let me encourage you to meditate on 2 Corinthians 9.6-8. Let this be a joyful opportunity this advent season.

The hearts of the elders when it comes to giving is in agreement with the Apostle Paul when he says, I will most gladly spend and be expended for your souls (2 Corinthians 12.15). Paul says this because he knows it is more blessed to give than it is to receive.  We long for you to give your heart wholly to God beyond all things. Paul says again, I will not be a burden to you; for I do not seek what is yours, but you (2 Corinthians 12.14). All that to say, We don't want your money, but instead your heart to be wholly given to God.

The funds given this year will be broken in half. $40,000 will go toward our normal monthly giving and the over and beyond amount of $40,000 will go toward specific ministry endeavors locally and globally. $17,000 will be committed to the following global efforts: 10 Jesus Wells in Asia ($10,000), The Israel Family in Eastern Europe ($5,000) and the Revision Work of the New Testament for Papau New Guinea by Jee-Young ($2,000). $23,000 will be committed to the following local efforts: Church Adoption Fund ($2,000), Real Options for Women ($6,000), Apartment Life ($4,000 - this is contingent upon an opportunity opening up at Autumn Chase), LINC Creekview HS Work ($4,000), and a Local Church Plant ($7,000).

Currently as a body $20,200 has been given toward the advent giving.  We are a fourth of the way there.  This is a great start.  May this advent season truly be all about Jesus.

For your advent joy,

Jerry
