Isaiah: For The Sake of Our Sovereign God
Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Isaiah: Hope Topic: Trust, Glory of God Passage: Isaiah 37:7–38
We live in a God-denying world, full of unbelief in Jesus and the enemy is putting the full court press, but I want us today to have great hope in our Sovereign Lord who says to every Christian today, "In the world you have tribulation, but take courage I have overcome the world (John 16.33)." Jesus has overcome the world, the enemy and all its evil. That means for every Christian a great truth that 1 John 5.4-5 declares, "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? Every Christian has the power to overcome the world." What does that mean? It means we do not have to follow the ways of the world and be squeezed into the mold of the ways of the world. So, today, let us trust in our Sovereign Lord just as King Hezekiah modeled for us some 2,700 years ago.
