The Marriage Bed is Good
Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: A Great Mystery - Marriage Topic: Sex Passage: 1 Timothy 4:1–5
Marriage is good. God said so, saying, “it was very good.” But our world, as we have seen over the last couple of weeks tries to paint a different picture. There is an attack against what is good and especially marriage. Paul dealt with this in the first century as false teachers were teaching lies that were being held out to those in the church. The false teachers were advocating for the forbidding of the sex of marriage and the pleasures of food. We see such today in our world, as through many forms the world has ripped the curtains off the sacred marriage bed and turned this great and God-glorifying gift into something cheap and sinfully misused. As a result, Christians will often think it is something we should not discuss or talk about even to the point of thinking maybe Christians should have nothing to do with it. Paul though says the complete opposite. The world has stolen what has belonged to Christians because sex belongs to God and God created it for marriage to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. Today’s topic is sensitive, but not something we should be silent on.
