Sacred Psalms: Psalm 89

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Sacred Psalms Topic: Trust Passage: Psalm 89:1–52

Psalm 89: As a child I could get on a swing and swing all day.  You put me on a swing today and I am done in mere seconds with the world spinning all around me.  My kids could swing forever and especially my youngest two still love to swing.  I love when they ask me to push them on a swing.  They love to go as high as they can as they look up at blue skies with their stomach in their throats.  But if a stranger came up and started pushing them it would be game over as they don’t know that person or trust them.  They trust me and their mom to push them for they know we will push them with care, not pushing them higher than they should go or do anything to cause them to tumble out.  We live in a topsy-turvy world and we must remember that God is pushing the swing.  We must put our trust in Him.  We must not grow fearful for He will not let us tumble out.  As we look into this Psalm today, we are reminded of that as we find that God will not fail us as we reflect on who He is and His promises to us based on His forever covenant that is for us too.
