The Owner and The Grateful Manager

Deuteronomy 8.10-18: You never know when you will get a history lesson. That is what I learned this morning at a local breakfast joint. It’s a rarity today, but a treat when you get to stop and chat with those of the generations that have gone before you. Today, we learn about money from those who have gone before us. The Israelites in Moses’ day were a wandering nation that God had brought out of slavery and had taken care of their every need. God was providing food for them and protecting them. As we look at the Israelites’ history and how God cared for them we learn a lot about money and our possessions. What we think about money is a big deal. We must know and continually remember who the owner is and who the manager is. Today as we turn the pages back to centuries in the past we learn what it means to truly live free when it comes to money and possessions.
