Now at this time Mary arose and went in a hurry to the hill country, to a city of Judah, 40 and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. And she cried out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! And how has it happened to me, that the mother of my Lord would come to me? For behold, when the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what had been spoken to her by the Lord.” Luke 1:39-45

Today we continue yesterday’s storyline. The angel Gabriel has just visited Mary and told her the great news: 1) Nothing is impossible for God, 2) Don’t be afraid! God is pleased with you and you will have a son, and 3) your relative Elizabeth is also going to have a son, even though she is old.

Today Mary heads to the hill country to see Elizabeth. And when Mary greets Elizabeth, the baby in in her womb (John the Baptist) leaps for joy! You parents that have gone through a pregnancy, know what this was like, to feel a baby leap in their mother’s womb. This certainly got Elizabeth’s attention and she proclaims, “God has blessed you more than any other woman! He has also blessed the child you will have. Why should the mother of my Lord come to me? As soon as I heard your greeting, my baby became happy and moved within me. The Lord has blessed you because you believed that he will keep his promise.”

So like Mary and Elizabeth, let us too trust in The Great I Am and know that nothing is impossible with Him. Let us walk in faith and let our lives be transformed, that we might be witnesses that bring glory to The Great I Am.
